Frequently Asked Questions about Air Conditioning
Straight answers from the Hunter's air conditioning specialists. Anything else, just call.
How often should I have my air conditioning unit serviced?
We recommend having your air conditioning system serviced a minimum of once a year, with periodic inspections up to 4 times a year depending on age, size and usage. A tailored service plan keeps your system at maximum efficiency and ready for the months you need it most.
How can I ensure my air conditioning unit lasts as long as possible?
Regular servicing is the big one - a minimum of once a year. Keeping filters clean and booking annual professional services protects both your Manufacturer's Warranty and Installation Warranty.
How often should I clean my air conditioner filters?
As a general rule, clean the filters in your indoor unit every two weeks. In dustier environments clean them more regularly.
What are the best air conditioning systems for 3 bedroom homes?
Newcastle's coastal climate means hot, humid summers and cooler winters, so a reliable reverse-cycle system is essential. For most 3-bedroom homes the choice is between a well-sized split for the main living area plus bedroom units, or a zoned ducted system - we size both during a free quote.
Why does a clogged filter cost me money?
Filters catch dust and pollutants like pollen and bacteria, but when coil and filters clog they collect moisture and even mould, and the unit works harder to move air - which drives up your power bills.
What maintenance contract terms are available?
1, 3 or 5 years for units under three years old if not installed by Valley Air Conditioning. We contact you every year for your scheduled service - no chasing required. The contract is transferrable if you sell your home.
